About the Program
Sobering Up Unit (S.U.U.) & Mobile Assistance Patrol Service (M.A.P.S.) – Coober Pedy
Working together to support our community
The Sobering Up Unit (S.U.U.) and Mobile Assistance Patrol Service (M.A.P.S.) work together to provide safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate support for individuals affected by alcohol.
Operating overnight, M.A.P.S. responds across the community, providing transport and assistance, while the S.U.U. offers a safe place for people to rest, recover, and access care.
How the service works:
✓ M.A.P.S. provides outreach, welfare checks, and safe transport
✓ Individuals are supported to access the Sobering Up Unit (S.U.U.) or another safe location
✓ The S.U.U. provides supervision, meals, and a safe space to recover
✓ Services work together to ensure people are supported with dignity and care
Our dedicated team works overnight to provide transport, supervision, meals, and culturally safe support for those affected by alcohol-related harm.
